Job Summary
We are a busy family practice office in Rogue River looking for a full time (32 hours per week- 4 days a week) experienced surgery scheduler/medical assistant.
Responsibilities and Duties
We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler/Medical Assistant to join our growing medical practice. This dual-role position is responsible for coordinating colonoscopy/endoscopy schedule , assisting providers with patient care, and ensuring a positive patient experience from consultation through follow-up.
Responsibilities: Surgery Scheduling
- Coordinate and schedule procedures with hospitals and surgery centers.
- Obtain insurance verify patient benefits.
- Prepare and submit surgical paperwork and required documentation.
- Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative instructions.
- Coordinate surgical clearances, laboratory testing, and imaging as needed.
- Maintain accurate surgery schedules and communicate updates to patients and clinical staff.
Medical Assistant Duties
- Room patients and obtain vital signs and medical histories.
- Prepare examination rooms and assist providers during patient visits.
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Administer injections, medications, and treatments as directed by the provider and within scope of practice.
- Perform routine clinical procedures, including specimen collection and EKGs, as applicable.
- Maintain exam room cleanliness and stock medical supplies.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in surgery scheduling or a medical office preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification.
- Experience with EMR systems.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient confidentiality.
