Objective and Purpose
The Maintenance Specialist helps protect and maintain the quality of Rogue Retreat properties (either owned or rented) by making sure that everything is in good working order, looks clean and is well maintained. The individual performing this work will have a background in either construction or landscape maintenance and bring one or more specialized skills to the team, e.g., property maintenance, painting, plumbing, electrical, general construction, framing and drywall, HVAC, landscape installation, horticulture or other training. Rogue Retreat prides itself in a quality living experience and life training for all participants in Rogue Retreat programs. The Maintenance Specialist is vital to the overall goodwill of Rogue Retreat for community, staff and participants.
Standard Required Qualifications
- Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have 2 years’ verifiable work history.
- Must have a current valid driver’s license.
- If you have a substance use disorder (addiction) you must have 2 years clean since your last use.
Job Specific Required Qualifications
- 2 year in construction, residential maintenance, landscape maintenance or similar experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Exhibit good written and verbal communications skills.
- Exhibit good conflict resolution and crisis de-escalation techniques.
- Exhibit basic knowledge of computer skills including, Microsoft Office and Google products
- Exhibit discipline for personal time management and record keeping.
- Be able to carry out responsibilities with little or no supervision.
- Exhibit the ability to work well with other staff and volunteers.
- Demonstrate flexibility in change orders
Essential Functions
- Cleaning, painting and repair of living units as they become available and prepare them to rent within one week of vacancy when possible.
- Remove and replace appliances, furniture and other components of a living unit.
- Perform routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door or wall repair.
- Repairing indoor broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.
- Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs.
- Maintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly.
- Inspecting buildings to confirm safety standards and scheduling major repairs with the building’s inhabitants.
- Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
- Make all repairs in a timely fashion, or coordinate with Maintenance Manager to hire a professional to complete the work when needed.
- Follow a schedule of regular maintenance on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and annual calendar.
- Maintain the landscaping on Rogue Retreat properties. This includes planting, weeding, trimming, etc.
- Available and responds to after hours for emergency maintenance calls.
- Other duties as assigned.
Pay: $17.75 - $20.00 per hour
