Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a talented and enthusiastic violinist to conduct private lessons on violin and, potentially, other string instruments at our studios in downtown Medford. Ideal candidates will possess a blend of musical proficiency, a friendly and confident demeanor, and a genuine passion for teaching students of all ages.

Candidates must also be proficient in reading sheet music, have good sight-reading skills for beginner and intermediate pieces, and possess classical knowledge suitable for explaining techniques through the lens of music theory. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one-on-one violin lessons utilizing our curriculum or supplementing with the teacher's own curriculum.
  • Participate in a brief training period to familiarize with Rogue Music Academy's teaching philosophy and curriculum.
  • Engage with students to foster a positive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Opportunities to lead group classes and participate in community outreach programs and performances, with significant potential for higher compensation based on experience.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency on violin, including performance proficiency.
  • Proficiency on other string instruments, such as viola, cello, bass, etc., is preferable but not required.
  • Proficiency in both classical and fiddle style violin is preferable but not required.
  • A well rounded understanding of music theory.
  • Previous teaching experience is preferable but not required.
  • Musicians with or without formal music education are encouraged to apply; however, a strong foundation in music or education is highly valued.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Many of our students are adults, but you will be working with and should be comfortable around children.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $30 to $45 per hour, based on experience.
  • This is a flexible part-time position, with students primarily scheduled from early afternoon to evening. Full-time positions are available for instructors who can teach piano and guitar in addition to violin.
  • Significant opportunities for professional growth and internal advancement.
