Role:
The Manager of Project Management, working under the general guidance of the Vice President of Strategic Execution, is responsible for leading project delivery and developing project management capability to ensure predictable execution of approved initiatives. This role executes projects aligned to enterprise strategy and portfolio priorities established by the VP of Strategic Execution, ensuring delivery is on time, within scope, and on budget while promoting consistent execution standards and governance. The Manager oversees a team of project managers, providing coaching and development to strengthen technical proficiency and leadership effectiveness. The role translates approved initiatives into actionable delivery plans, manages execution across assigned projects within the approved enterprise portfolio, and fosters a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement. The Manager of Project Management is accountable for delivery execution, project management discipline, and execution transparency, with success measured by delivery predictability, execution discipline, and the quality of execution reporting.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
35% Oversees delivery execution across projects within the approved enterprise portfolio, ensuring effective planning, resource coordination, scope management, and status reporting. Maintains accurate and current project documentation and an integrated view of delivery resource utilization to identify execution risks and capacity constraints. Escalates delivery risks, capacity constraints, and conflicts requiring prioritization, funding, or strategic tradeoff decisions to the Vice President of Strategic Execution. Provides transparent reporting on delivery health, risks, and capacity, and facilitates clear, execution-focused communication of priorities, decisions, risks, and progress to project teams and stakeholders. Partners with business and operational leaders to provide execution insight, delivery transparency, and operational support, enabling cross-functional initiatives to progress with clarity, alignment, and disciplined execution
35% Oversees the development and coaching of project managers, encompassing both technical project management proficiency and essential soft skills vital for thriving in the credit union. Manages the recruitment, training, and motivation of highly competent staff to effectively address daily operational demands within areas of responsibility. Executes objective performance assessments and evaluates the performance of all direct reports, while fostering a coaching culture geared towards maximizing employee and team achievement ultimately aimed at enhancing member loyalty through the creation of exceptional experiences.
25% Drives the ongoing advancement of project management maturity by implementing execution improvement initiatives and best practices that strengthen delivery consistency and effectiveness. Leads the selection, implementation, and administration of systems and tools that support project management processes and execution visibility. Collaborates with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in project management methodologies and practices. Applies and continuously improves governance frameworks established by the Vice President of Strategic Execution to ensure effective, consistent utilization of project management standards, processes, and systems.
5% Proactively performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge & Skills:
Experience: Five years to eight years of direct experience along with formal certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP).
Education: (1) A Bachelor's degree, or (2) equivalent combination of education and experience
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
Other Skills: Strong ability to identify and implement efficiencies tailored to the organization's unique business needs, supported by a strategic, entrepreneurial mindset and proactive approach to problem-solving. Highly analytical and adept at using data driven insights, with a talent for recognizing opportunities for optimization and taking decisive action with minimal oversight. Physical Requirements: Some adjusting or moving objects up to 30 pounds in all directions. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers while using computer. Communicating with others to exchange information. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discernments in sound. Close and continuous visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
Work Environment: This job is an exempt position that requires flexibility in scheduling tasks and projects. The employee must independently monitor hours and judge the time needed to be spent on applicable duties. Employee must be capable of adjusting to unpredictable schedules proactively. As a direct representative of the credit union, the employee must conduct and present themselves courteously and professionally. Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, i.e., robbery. Travel to all credit union regions may be required.
