Instructor is responsible for the planning and implementation of various manufacturing courses. Instructor is required to create a course syllabus, instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with that syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress and evaluate course work for a letter grade. Instructor will maintain college standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the team atmosphere of the manufacturing technology department of Rogue Community College. 
 
Supervision Received
 
The dean, in consultation with the department chair is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by the vice president. The dean confers with the department chair in decisions regarding instructor workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing levels. 
  1. Instructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate. Such as machining, CAD, metrology and CNC programming.
  2. Advises students on matters of program goals and course requirements, scheduling office hours as required.
  3. Prepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate.
  4. Develops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course.
  5. Participates as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities.
  6. Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed.
  7. Participates in the development of the quarterly class schedule and the annual departmental budget; initiates purchase requisitions, travel requests, and work orders as needed.
  8. Engages in regular professional growth activity based on the objectives established in an approved professional manner.
  9. Represents the program and the college to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner.
  10. Responsible for departmental equipment: participates in periodic inventory and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: An Associate of Science degree in manufacturing or industrial trades, is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of experience in manufacturing or certifications in millwright, machining, and/or other professional certifications preferred.
 
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted:   accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609.  Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.
 
Licenses and Certificates:  For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License and proof of an acceptable driving record are required. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver’s license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)). Current ASE Master Auto Technician certification in all eight automotive repair categories is required.  Advanced level L1 ASE certification is desirable. Recent training certifications from multiple car manufactures are desirable.
 
Experience:  Manufacturing processes, machine tools, and teaching experience at the high school or college level are preferred. A demonstration of CAD, machining or programming competency may be required during the interview.
 
Knowledge of:  Manufacturing processes, machine maintenance, drafting, metallurgy, Computer aided design, blueprint reading and CNC operations or programming to industry standards are required.  Computer applications for communication and learning, including, but not limited to word processing, the Internet, multi-media presentations, spreadsheets and database management; curriculum development; the community colleges' mission, role in higher education, and student population; and sensitivity to a diverse student body and its needs.  
 
Ability to:  Communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse students, staff, and community members. Participate as a professional in achieving the mission and goals of the college. Demonstrate experience or potential for innovation and creativity in the classroom and in completion of related educational duties. Demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth.  Follow requirements of American with Disabilities Act legislation. Advise students and Present material to students with different learning styles.
 
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis such as books, boxes, machine lab equipment, hazardous materials, etc., and may infrequently require moving materials weighing up to 100 pounds. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as machine tools, lab inspection equipment and computer keyboard.  May also be required to sit for long periods of time in meetings or traveling between counties.
Manual dexterity and coordination are required for less than half of the daily work period (about 40%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires some mobility including the ability to move materials up to 100 pounds rarely. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.
 
Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in a shop or office environment. The employee could be exposed to hazardous materials with proper personal protective equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high and lighting is adequate.  
 This is an Adjunct Faculty pool for teaching part-time in the Manufacturing and Engineering Technology department.
