Responsibilities
- Operate lawn mowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, and other power tools to maintain lawns, gardens, and landscaped areas efficiently and safely.
- Perform landscape maintenance tasks including planting, pruning, trimming trees and shrubs, and installing or repairing hardscape features such as walkways or patios.
- Manage irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules and troubleshoot issues to maintain healthy plant growth.
- Use hand tools and ground maintenance equipment to perform tasks such as edging, aerating, fertilizing, and soil preparation.
- Identify various plants, trees, and pests; apply appropriate horticultural practices and pesticide management techniques in compliance with safety protocols.
- Conduct snow plowing during winter months to keep pathways clear and safe for pedestrians and vehicles.
- Follow all safety protocols diligently while operating equipment like excavators or other construction-related machinery to prevent accidents.
Experience
- Prior outdoor work experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance is highly preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge of landscaping equipment, power tools, irrigation systems, and construction machinery such as excavators is essential.
- Strong understanding of horticulture principles including plant identification, tree care, gardening techniques, and landscape design.
- Familiarity with pesticide management practices and safety procedures related to chemical application.
- Experience with hardscape installation or repair projects is a plus.
- Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment safely while adhering to all safety protocols.
- Construction experience or knowledge of outdoor construction projects enhances your ability to handle diverse landscaping tasks effectively.
