Role Description The Senior Staff Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Carle Place, NY. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting needs or our business owners including reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of payroll taxes, sales tax, insurance audits. The Senior Staff Accountant supports tax preparation and compliance for business and individual clients. Day-to-day work includes analyzing financial data, identifying variances, and providing insights to partners and clients, as well as collaborating with team members to improve accounting processes. The role also involves responding to client inquiries, maintaining organized documentation.
Qualifications
- Strong general accounting skills, including experience with general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Knowledge of tax principles and compliance for businesses and individuals, with experience supporting tax preparation and filings.
- Comfort with accounting software and productivity tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Ultra Tax, CFS or similar platforms, Excel, and other office applications).
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a professional services environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients, colleagues, and firm leadership.
- Ability to work on-site in Carle, NY, collaborate with a team, and handle confidential financial information responsibly.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward CPA licensure is preferred.
- Several years of relevant public accounting or corporate accounting experience, ideally in a client-facing role.
