We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Malpractice Paralegal to work in our Columbia office while supporting a team of attorneys based in Charleston. This position will primarily support a team of two attorneys, with one administrative assistant in the area of medical malpractice litigation. The ideal candidate will be an experienced paralegal with a strong understanding of medical malpractice law and a commitment to providing high-quality legal support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in all stages of medical malpractice litigation, including case preparation, discovery, and trial preparation.
- Draft, proofread, and revise legal documents such as complaints, motions, and discovery requests.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring that all documentation is current and properly filed.
- Communicate with clients, medical professionals, and experts as needed.
- Conduct legal research and prepare summaries of medical records, depositions, and other relevant information.
- Assist in trial preparation, including preparing exhibits and trial notebooks.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
- Manage deadlines and assist with the case management process to ensure timely progress.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in medical malpractice litigation.
- Paralegal certification or equivalent education and experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and records.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
