Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and passionate Nursery Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our nursery at Rogers Spring Hill Garden Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in horticulture, excellent leadership skills, and a dedication to providing exceptional customer service. This role involves managing plant inventory, leading a team, ensuring the highest standards of plant care and customer satisfaction, as well as running a front-end loader.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plant Care and Maintenance:
- Oversee the health and growth of plants, including watering, fertilizing, pruning, and pest control.
- Ensure plants are displayed attractively and in accordance with seasonal requirements.
- Monitor and manage plant inventory, including ordering, receiving, and organizing stock.
- Customer Service:
- Assist customers with plant selection, care advice, and product recommendations.
- Address and resolve customer inquiries and concerns in a professional manner.
- Develop and implement programs to enhance customer engagement and satisfaction.
- Running Machinery
- Assisting homeowners and contractors with loading bulk material with a front-end loader.
- This includes mulch, stone, and sod.
- Sales:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Monitor market trends and adjust product offerings accordingly.
- Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise nursery staff.
- Develop and implement staff schedules and assign daily tasks.
- Provide ongoing coaching on performance
- Facility Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the nursery area.
- Ensure that equipment and tools are in good working condition.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for plant procurement and other supplies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Botany, Agriculture, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 2 years of leadership experience and history with plants or a prior nursery management role.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of plant species, growth cycles, and pest management.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management and basic financial reporting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
- Comfort with working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
