What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Pipe Layer Position position at Rogers Grading Inc.?
We are seeking an experienced Pipe Layer to become a part of our team! You will be part of a team installing underground utilities such as storm drain, water systems and sewer systems.
Key Responsibilities
· Installation: Lay various types of pipe (ductile iron, PVC, concrete, HDPE) for storm drains, sanitary sewers, and water mains.
· Grade and Alignment: Use lasers, grade rods, and transit levels to ensure pipes meet required specifications and slopes.
· Trench Safety: Install, move, and dismantle trench shoring and shielding systems in accordance with OSHA regulations.
· Pipe Preparation: Cut, bevel, and join pipes, fittings, and valves using saws, gaskets, megalugs or cement.
· Site Coordination: Assist operators with excavating and backfilling trenches, ensuring proper bedding materials are used.
· General Labor: Perform manual digging, hand-tool operation, and site cleanup.
Qualifications and Skills
· Experience: Generally 1–3 years of experience in underground utility construction.
· Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blue prints, construction drawings, and specifications is a huge plus but not a requirement.
· Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift \(50-90 \) lbs, work in confined spaces, and stand, kneel, or bend for long periods.
· Certifications: Valid driver’s license (with a clean record). Trench safety or OSHA 10/30 certification is often preferred but not required.
· Attributes: Strong teamwork, communication skills, and a commitment to safety.
