Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Shop Foreman/Lead Technician to oversee daily operations within our service and repair shop. This role is vital in ensuring that heavy equipment, automotive gas and diesel vehicles, farm machinery, hybrid, and vehicle systems are maintained, repaired, and serviced efficiently and to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. As a key leader on the shop floor, you will coordinate technicians, manage workflow, and uphold safety protocols to keep operations running smoothly and safely.
Duties
- Supervise daily shop activities, ensuring timely and quality of service and repairs.
- Lead a team of technicians by assigning tasks, providing training, mentoring, and performance feedback to foster a productive work environment.
- Diagnose complex mechanical issues using schematics, diagnostic tools, and technical manuals across various equipment including gas, diesel, and hybrid vehicles.
- Oversee maintenance schedules for equipment such as transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, and electrical components to maximize uptime.
- Perform or oversee repairs involving welding, fabrication, shocks & struts replacement, and general vehicle maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair needs and timelines to ensure satisfaction and transparency.
Qualifications
- Proven dealership or heavy equipment repair experience with a strong background in automotive diagnostics and mechanical systems repair.
- Extensive knowledge of heavy truck repair, diesel mechanics, HVAC systems for vehicles/equipment, and automotive electrical systems.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, schematics reading, and diagnostic software.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as , forklifts or tractor-trailers is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership abilities with previous supervisory or team lead experience in a mechanical or service environment.
- Mechanical knowledge of transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes (including air brake systems), shocks & struts and HVAC is essential.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely during repairs or equipment handling; familiarity with heavy lifting techniques required.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members alike.
