Founded in 1935 by visionary educator Margaret Lee Chadwick, Chadwick is one of two schools operated by the Roessler-Chadwick Foundation. In 2010, Chadwick International School was formed in Songdo, South Korea, which expanded opportunities for students around the globe to benefit from a world-class Chadwick education.

 

Job Title: Entrepreneurship and Humanities Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY

Chadwick’s Builder School (B-School) is a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation, creating the next generation of technology leaders with hands-on experience tackling real-world problems using the highest tech tools. The B-School’s entrepreneurship program seeks an inspired and motivated educator to help grow the program. This person will work closely with the B-School Director in planning and teaching the Business and Entrepreneurship courses and learning experiences, co-curriculars, and potentially the alumni/parent outreach programs. Based on experience and school needs, this role will also teach one to two humanities courses.

 

The ideal candidate is an energetic self-starter with a blend of educational, entrepreneurial, and corporate experience, preferably in tech, media, or finance.

Department members work closely together to create a coherent learning experience designed to prepare students for lifelong learning as global citizens with keen minds, exemplary character, self-knowledge, and the ability to lead. Each teacher also serves as a faculty advisor, participates in the life of the school outside the classroom, and engages in ongoing professional development and learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach 3–4 sections of Upper School Business and Entrepreneurship courses and English or social science courses based on the candidate’s expertise and school needs.
  • Collaborate to plan curriculum around shared learning outcomes, skill sequences, content knowledge, and enduring understandings and essential questions.
  • Apply principles of backward design (UbD) to plan learning experiences. 
  • Design and teach the Middle School Entrepreneurship course
  • Lead Upper School co-curriculars and contribute actively to student life through meaningful involvement in activities such as Personal Finance & Investing, the “Dolphin Tank” startup incubator, newspaper, yearbook, Model UN, or debate.
  • Contribute to the strategic growth and vision of the B-School program.
  • Support the B-School team with relevant programming and competitions.
  • Create an inclusive classroom environment of mutual respect and rapport; incorporate anti-bias practices into the classroom culture and apply Chadwick's shared equitable assessment and grading practices.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques to engage students in active, experiential learning grounded in authentic texts and experiences.
  • Integrate technology into lessons, including the use of laptops and Google platforms.
  • Use Chadwick shared assessment and grading practices to assess, record, and provide feedback on student learning and next steps.
  • Submit grades and student comments as instructed and on time.
  • Keep information systems up to date, including class calendars, gradebooks, and course online sites.
  • Attend relevant department and faculty meetings and school events, including new faculty orientation and training, professional development, and student orientations before school starts, back-to-school night, parent-teacher conferences, assemblies, graduation, etc.).
  • Cover classes for absent colleagues as requested.
  • Read and follow employment policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Read and follow academic policies outlined in the relevant division Handbook.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCES, AND SKILLS

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English are required.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required
  • A deep and broad knowledge of the subjects to be taught is required.
  • An MBA and/or work experience in tech, media, or finance is preferred.
  • Teaching experience with Middle or Upper School students is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pedagogy and educational tools, including relevant technology, is preferred.
  • A student-centered, global, and innovative approach to teaching is preferred.

 

Compensation: $81,000 to $98,000 salary based on years of experience, credentials and other

qualifications.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

  • Required to lift and carry up to a maximum of 25 lbs., in a correct manner consistent with the appropriate training provided by the School.
  • Occasionally required to use hand to handle or feel objects, touch and use tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, grasp, talk, hear, and walk during the course of employment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to adjust focus.
  • May use telephone, computer, copier, and other office equipment in the course of a day.
  • Required to sit while operating word processing equipment for approximately 6-8 hours daily, repetitive motion for typing and other keystroke needs.
