Summary

This position is responsible for purchasing materials for domestic and international jobs, according to project-defined scopes and specifications. This person’s focus will be the procurement of electrical hardware components, steel, pipe, or consumables. In addition, this position is expected to become well-versed in Roestrac, Viewpoint, and company processes.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs are required.
• Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
• Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
• Responsible for generating supplier purchase orders, including vendor acceptance.
• Negotiate pricing with vendors.
• Receive RFQs from Professional Services Departments and work directly with them on substitutions and pricing.
• Work closely with Project Managers on approvals and buyout reports.
• Work closely with Accounting Department on revisions and credits.
• Follow purchase from PO creation to delivery, following up and expediting as needed.
• Coordinate deliveries from vendor to required ship-to location with Project Coordinator.
• Procure for other Roeslein entities.
• Enter data into purchasing and accounting systems.
• Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations.
• Perform other purchasing and administrative duties as assigned
• Must be a leader who represents the organization with the ability to be a liaison to our customers, adhere to company standards, and resolve issues with urgency and professionalism.
• Must follow good housekeeping practices.

• Performs all work in compliance with company standards, does not deviate from policies and procedures, and adheres to regulatory requirements.

Knowledge / Skill / Ability / Education / Experience

• Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field is strongly preferred; a High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, exposure to purchasing, supply chain, or logistics is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with raw materials (steel, pipe, electrical components, etc.) is a plus.
• Ability to learn company specific purchasing software, Roestrac, and accounting software, Viewpoint.
• Must be comfortable to negotiate daily purchases with vendors.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Strong math skills and confident working with and confirming numbers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required.
• Ability to work flexible hours including overtime.
• Must adhere to the Company’s attendance policy.
  
  

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in an office and in an uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. The ability to lift and carry 10 lbs. regularly is required.
