What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant position at Rodriguez Trial Law?
The ideal candidate will ensure smooth running of the office and effective case management by providing legal services under the supervision of an attorney. This individual will communicate frequently with the clients in order to serve them adequately. Additionally, this candidate will conduct necessary case research to aid the legal proceedings.
- knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and civil court system in State and Federal Court
- provide administrative support to multiple lawyers and keep track of the firm’s pending court cases
- prepare, edit, e-file, and process correspondence and standard legal documents including subpoenas, petition, citations, summonses, motions, orders, exhibits, fiats, and appeals
- calendar local jurisdiction filing deadlines, response time periods, and other county specific deadlines and procedures
- organize and coordinate hearings and depositions via zoom or in-person with court reporting staff, video personnel, and room booking arrangements
- organize delivery of legal correspondence to clients, witnesses, insurance companies, and court officials
- answer phone calls, emails, take notes / messages, and redirect calls when appropriate
