MOLD TECHNICIAN
Position Summary: The Mold Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance on plastic injection molding tools to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and production efficiency. This role supports the Tooling Department by maintaining molds in proper working condition, identifying wear or potential issues early, and assisting with tooling repairs and improvements as needed. The position plays a critical role in reducing downtime, extending tool life, and maintaining product quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance
· Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on plastic injection molding tools according to established maintenance schedules and procedures.
· Disassemble, clean, inspect, lubricate, and reassemble molds and related tooling components.
· Inspect tooling components for wear, damage, or performance concerns.
· Maintain detailed maintenance records, including work performed, observations, and parts replaced.
· Ensure molds are production-ready and meet quality standards before being returned to the floor.
Tooling Support & Repair
· Assist Toolmakers and Tooling Technicians with mold repairs, troubleshooting, and modifications as needed.
· Replace worn components such as springs, pins, bushings, inserts, and other tooling components.
· Support root cause analysis of tooling-related production issues.
· Assist with mold change preparation and tooling setup support when required.
Operational Support
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of the tool room and mold storage areas.
· Follow all safety procedures and proper handling practices for molds and tooling equipment.
· Assist in continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling maintenance and reliability.
· Communicate maintenance concerns or improvement opportunities to leadership.
Other Duties
· Support production and maintenance teams as needed to resolve tooling issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
· Drives a forklift.
· Reads blueprints.
· Uses basic machine tools (lathes, mill, grinders, etc.).
Competencies
· Ability to follow directions.
· Strong interest in learning the mold making trade.
· Reliable and punctual; good attendance.
· Safety conscious; exhibits a concerns for safety and closely observes all safety rules.
Job Requirements
· Solid mathematical and analytical reasoning skills helpful.
· Strong mechanical aptitude helpful.
· Ability to read blueprints, measuring skills, use of basic machine tools (lathes, mill, grinders, etc.)
· Ability to learn on-the-job.
Physical Demands
· Drives forklift in a manufacturing environment where heavy steel molds are stored in exposed, tall, vertical racks.
· Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and whole body movement: such as lifting up to 45 lbs., balancing, stooping, and handling of materials.
· Ability to talk, hear, and see.
· Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
· Walks and stands a minimum of 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week on concrete floors.
· Wears steel-toed safety shoes and other personal protective equipment as required such as ear plugs and gloves.

Job Type: Full-time, Non-exempt
Reports to: This position currently reports to the Tool Room Foreman.
Work Location: In person at Rodon’s manufacturing facility located at 2800 Sterling Drive, Hatfield PA 19440
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Pay: $20 - $25/hour (depending upon experience)
