POSITION OVERVIEW
A growing food manufacturing organization is seeking a Quality Control Manager to lead and continuously enhance its quality and food safety programs. This role is responsible for ensuring all products meet regulatory, customer, and internal standards while driving a culture centered on food safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
The position requires strong expertise in food safety regulations, GFSI-certified systems, and quality management practices. The individual will partner cross-functionally to improve performance through data-driven decision-making, team leadership, and process optimization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and maintain compliance with all applicable food safety and regulatory requirements, as well as customer quality expectations
• Oversee implementation and continuous improvement of GFSI-certified programs and internal quality systems
• Manage and develop a team responsible for quality testing and inspection activities, ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Ensure adherence to sanitation programs and standard operating procedures
• Participate in and support food safety programs, including hazard analysis and preventive controls
• Oversee laboratory testing programs; analyze data and communicate trends to leadership
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions related to quality issues, audit findings, and customer feedback
• Support third-party audits, regulatory inspections, and customer visits, including preparation and execution
• Monitor key quality metrics and implement improvements based on performance trends
• Collaborate with operations, sanitation, maintenance, and supply chain teams on quality-related initiatives
• Provide quality oversight during product launches, process changes, and supplier transitions
• Maintain accurate and compliant documentation for all quality systems and records
• Support training initiatives related to food safety, quality standards, and best practices
• Interface with external partners to ensure alignment with specifications and expectations
• Make final product disposition decisions, including release and hold determinations
• Promote accountability and a proactive quality culture across the facility
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Engineering
• 5 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control within a food manufacturing environment
• HACCP certification required; additional food safety certifications preferred
• Experience working within GFSI-certified environments (e.g., BRCGS, SQF, or similar)
• Strong understanding of food safety regulations, including FSMA and related requirements
• Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and risk assessment methodologies
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate across multiple functions
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while upholding quality standards
