Accounting Manager (Public Company)

Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with GAAP and public company requirements. This role plays a key part in the month-end close, internal controls, audit coordination, and SOX & SEC reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
- Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP
- Support the preparation and filing of 10-K and 10-Q reports
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) (SOX), including documentation and testing of internal controls
- Lead and mentor accounting staff; review work for accuracy and completeness
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and quarterly reviews
- Analyze financial results and provide variance analysis to leadership
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, legal, and operations teams
- Oversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and journal entries
- Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of new standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred)
- Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) strongly preferred
- 5–8 years of accounting experience (public accounting industry preferred)
- Experience in a publicly traded company or working with SEC reporting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance
- Advanced Excel skills
