Position Summary


The Compliance Specialist is responsible for reviewing and processing resident certifications, recertifications, and compliance documentation to ensure adherence to federal, state, local, and agency program requirements. This position provides technical support to site staff, conducts file reviews, monitors compliance activities, and assists with audits and regulatory reporting.

Complete and review annual recertifications, interim certifications, and other resident file processing activities in accordance with applicable program requirements and established deadlines. Provide ongoing compliance support and guidance to assigned property teams regarding eligibility determinations, income calculations, occupancy requirements, and regulatory compliance matters. Perform quarterly compliance risk assessments for assigned properties and communicate findings, recommendations, and corrective action plans to management. Review resident files for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HUD, LIHTC, HOME, PBV, and other applicable affordable housing program requirements. Assist with initial certifications, move-in approvals, and occupancy-related compliance determinations as needed. Support pre-audit preparation activities, including file reviews, documentation collection, deficiency correction, and audit readiness assessments. Assist with post-audit corrective actions, agency responses, and implementation of compliance improvement plans. Monitor compliance deadlines and work collaboratively with site teams to ensure timely completion of certifications, reporting requirements, and corrective actions. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance files in accordance with regulatory retention requirements. Assist with agency reporting, data collection, file corrections, and compliance-related submissions as assigned. Participate in compliance monitoring activities, quality control reviews, and ongoing process improvement initiatives. Assist with implementation of regulatory changes, policy updates, and departmental procedures. Support special projects, file clean-up efforts, resyndication activities, acquisitions, and other compliance initiatives as assigned. Track and report assigned compliance metrics and workload performance indicators to support departmental goals and objectives. Maintain current knowledge of affordable housing regulations and industry best practices through ongoing training and professional development. 

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, 3 days in office and 2 days remote; With required quarterly travel to assigned portfolio. Additional travel is required as needed. 


Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of affordable housing compliance experience.
  • Working knowledge of LIHTC, HUD, PBRA, HOME, and other affordable housing programs.
  • Experience reviewing certifications and determining resident eligibility.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with property management and compliance software platforms.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and communicate requirements effectively.
  • Professional certifications such as COS, TCS or equivalent preferred.

Salary : $65,000 - $67,000
