Rocky Mountain Landscape Materials – CDL DRIVER JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:

Join our dynamic team as a CDL Tandem Dump Driver specializing in local landscape material delivery This position includes the hauling of landscape products, to include: fine and coarse aggregate, riprap, boulders, topsoil, mulch, along with other various landscape related items; to and from job sites for both internal and external customer projects.

This energetic role requires the safe operation of a tandem dump truck equipped with manual and/or automatic transmission, delivering landscaping materials efficiently across designated routes. Your efforts will play a vital role in ensuring timely, safe, and professional deliveries to our valued customers, contributing to the beautification and maintenance of outdoor spaces.

The successful candidate will perform other related duties as assigned.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver landscape materials using tandems
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with regulatory guidelines
• Comply with all DOT and in-house regulations and rules.
• Keep track of hours on equipment and complete a daily truck log.
• Identify and ensure write-ups of defective equipment on trucks
• Check all load related paperwork prior to movement of load to ensure completeness and accuracy
• Ensure professional and safe operation of vehicles at all times
• Clean truck interior on a daily basis
• Maintain/wash vehicle to properly reflect a positive Rocky Mountain Landscape Materials image where pride in operation and cleanliness are apparent
• Perform basic minor maintenance functions on trucks as needed
• Drive any and all vehicles as needed including those with manual and automatic transmissions
• Inspect, use and maintain various personal protective equipment
• Responsible for his/her own on the job safety and work quality
• Regular and physical attendance is an essential function of this position
• Be aware of hazards in the work area such as other equipment and other truck traffic, overhead obstructions, workers on foot and the public.
• Serve as company advocate in every interaction with customers and the public.
• May assist in other yard operations as designated by the yard manager.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Must possess and maintain a Class A/B CDL

· Drug Free Work Place – Pre-Employment and Random Drug Testing

· Must be able to secure a DOT physical and obtain a medical card.

· Must be thoroughly familiar with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations

· Must have a clean driving record

· Experience using a tandem dump truck is required

· Must be able to work with limited supervision

· Follow all safety protocols related to driving, cargo securement, and vehicle operation to ensure a safe working environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Must have a minimum of 2 years semi-truck or tandem axle truck driving experience

· Certification from an accredited carrier training school is a plus

· Tandem Dump and/or 18 wheel end dump experience is required

· Retail Delivery experience in an urban environment is preferred.

· Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIROMENT:

· Occasionally required to reach with arms and throw chains or straps over tall loads

· May be required to lift, load, push, pull or carry parts and equipment in excess of 75#

· Regular intervals of exertion using hands, shoulders, arms, and back to bind and secure loads

· Climb ladders and/or stairs without difficulty

· Push, kneel, crawl, and crouch occasionally. Will be required to walk on uneven terrain

· Will sit for long periods of time

· Work in a variety of environments including remediation sites, hot and cold weather and noisy environments

· Will occasionally be exposed to high places

· Saturday work is required on an alternating week basis
