Rocky Mountain Inventory is a professional inventory service specializing in physical inventory counts for convenience stores, liquor stores, small grocers, and other retail businesses.

We are currently hiring Part-Time Inventory Auditors for Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and surrounding areas.

The ideal candidate lives in the Colorado Springs area and is comfortable with both local travel and occasional regional assignments throughout Colorado. Most work is considerably local.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys early mornings, staying active, working with a team, and having much of the afternoon available.

No inventory experience is required — we will train the right person.

IMPORTANT — RELIABLE VEHICLE REQUIRED

To be considered for this position, you are expected to have your own reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and current automobile insurance.

Our employees report directly to different customer locations throughout Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Monument, Fountain, and surrounding communities. There is not one central workplace that you report to every day.

You must be able to reliably get yourself to each scheduled job location on time. Depending on another employee, friend, family member, rideshare, or public transportation as your regular means of getting to assignments is generally not practical for this position.

Company vehicles may occasionally be available for certain longer-distance assignments, but a company vehicle should not be expected or relied upon for your normal transportation to work.

What You'll Do

As an Inventory Auditor, you will travel to retail locations and perform accurate physical inventory counts. Duties include:

• Counting merchandise using handheld inventory equipment and/or 10-Key
• Working accurately and efficiently in a variety of retail environments
• Counting merchandise on shelves, in stockrooms, coolers, and other storage areas
• Using step stools and occasionally ladders up to approximately 6 feet
• Stooping, bending, kneeling, and occasionally crawling to reach merchandise
• Working cooperatively with other members of the inventory team
• Providing courteous and professional service to store employees and managers

Some locations require counting merchandise inside walk-in coolers or freezer areas, so applicants should be comfortable working in colder environments for portions of a shift.

Teamwork is important to us. Our crews work together and help one another with more difficult areas of a store. We believe in sharing the workload rather than leaving one person with all of the least desirable tasks.

Schedule

This is primarily a weekday, daytime position and is generally not a good fit for someone looking only for evening or weekend work.

• Typically 3–4 days per week
• Some weeks may offer up to 5 days
• Most jobs begin around 6:00–7:00 AM, although some may begin earlier
• Many shifts finish around midday or early afternoon
• Longer days occasionally occur
• Some weekend work may be available or required, although we try to fill weekend assignments with volunteers whenever possible

Because our work takes place at customer locations, your work location changes from day to day.

The ideal candidate will live in or near Colorado Springs, which serves as a convenient home base for much of the work in this region.

We make every reasonable effort to schedule employees close to their home area. However, employees in this position should expect assignments throughout Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Monument, Fountain, and other surrounding communities.

Some regional travel is also part of this position. At times, employees may be asked to travel farther within Colorado or assist another region when additional staffing is needed.

Applicants should be comfortable with a job where some days are close to home and other days may involve additional travel.

Travel & Mileage

Local and regional travel are normal and expected parts of this position.

• Employees are responsible for having their own reliable vehicle
• Most assignments will be in Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and surrounding areas
• Some assignments will require additional regional travel
• Mileage and travel compensation are provided after a set daily commute minimum is met
• The daily minimum accounts for a normal commute to and from work
• Company vehicles may occasionally be available for certain longer-distance assignments

Reliability, Attendance & Communication

Good attendance and punctuality are essential to being successful in this position.

Our customers schedule inventories for specific dates and times, and every person assigned to a crew is counted on to be there. Being late or absent doesn't just affect your own shift — it affects the entire crew and our ability to complete the customer's inventory on time.

We understand that illness, emergencies, and unexpected situations occasionally happen. When something does come up, we expect employees to communicate promptly with the office rather than waiting until the last minute or failing to communicate.

Repeated lateness, poor attendance, no-shows, last-minute call-offs without appropriate notice, or failure to communicate with the office are not compatible with this position.

If you are someone who shows up when scheduled, arrives on time, communicates promptly when necessary, and takes your commitments seriously, you are the type of person we're looking for.

Preferred Skills & Qualities

Previous inventory experience is helpful, but dependability, attendance, punctuality, and communication are equally important to us. We are willing to train dependable applicants who have the right attitude and work ethic.

• Living in or near the Colorado Springs area

• Consistent punctuality and the ability to arrive at scheduled locations on time
• Prompt and responsible communication with the office when necessary
• Willingness and ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally

• Ability to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Good communication and customer service skills
• 10-Key by touch
• Previous inventory or retail experience

Requirements

The following transportation requirements are mandatory to be considered for employment:

• Your own reliable vehicle
• Valid driver's license
• Current automobile insurance
• Ability to reliably report to different customer locations throughout Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and surrounding communities
• Willingness and ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally

Applicants must also:

• Be physically capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and performing other movements required for physical inventory work
• Be available for early-morning schedules
• Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality
• Communicate promptly with the office when circumstances affect a scheduled assignment
• Meet company background and employment requirements

Compensation

We offer competitive starting pay, with the possibility of a higher starting rate for applicants who have proven inventory-counting experience, strong 10-Key skills, or other directly relevant experience.
