Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology is looking for a Procedure Scheduler to join our team. RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS ROLE:
- Schedule all appointments according to guidelines set by physicians and facilities for participating physicians.
- Call patients to schedule various appointments at the direction of the primary care physician or other referring provider.
- Request any pertinent medical documentation needed by physicians to assist in patient care.
- Obtain current and accurate insurance information for proper payment for services provided.
- Provide exceptional customer service and patient support.
- Understand medical terminology or willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with state/federal commercial health insurance payers, or willingness to learn.
- This position involves sitting at a desk, using computer and phone for a period of up to 8 hours with normal breaks and mealtimes.
- Ability to manage a large volume of calls.
- Work with other departments on assigned projects.
DESIRABLE QUALITIES IN A CANDIDATE:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of EMR and AllScripts highly desirable.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, required.
- A sense of discipline to work in accordance with accepted medical standards.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to understand patient medical records, physician orders, and medication orders.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and function as a team-player.
