Role Description The Director of Development is a full-time, hybrid role based in Crested Butte, CO, with flexibility for some work from home. This position leads RMBL’s fundraising strategy and execution, including cultivating and stewarding donors, managing major gifts, and overseeing annual giving campaigns. The director will design and implement comprehensive development plans, coordinate donor communications and events, and work closely with leadership and the board to align fundraising priorities with organizational goals. Daily responsibilities include managing the development budget, supervising or collaborating with development staff and contractors, tracking and reporting fundraising outcomes, and maintaining accurate donor records in CRM systems. The role also involves partnering with program and communications teams to develop compelling cases for support that reflect RMBL’s mission and impact.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising and philanthropy, including cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors.
- Proficiency in planned giving and annual giving strategies, with the ability to design and manage giving programs.
- Strong budgeting and financial management skills to plan, monitor, and report on development-related revenues and expenses.
- Knowledge of best practices in nonprofit development, including donor databases, prospect research, and campaign planning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, persuasive fundraising materials.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including donors, board members, and community partners.
- Experience leading or coordinating teams, with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as nonprofit management, communications, business, or related discipline), or equivalent professional experience.
- Interest in or familiarity with scientific research, environmental issues, or field-based education is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment based in Crested Butte, CO, including occasional evening or weekend events as needed.
