Purpose:
The position exists to manage the operational affairs of the production plants and maintenance shop, and to provide leadership and direction to the employees assigned to those work locations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Safely perform assigned work and look out for the safety of others
- Work with safety coordinator to identify and implement ways to protect employees from accidents and injury.
- Manage the daily operations of the dry plant as well as the maintenance shop
- Assist dispatch in ensuring timely delivery of the correct product to the customer by coordinating trucks and people. Effective daily scheduling of employees and constant open communication with dispatch are critical to success in this area
- Take the lead in coordinating the maintenance and preventative maintenance for all trucks and plant equipment to minimize down time, ensure a quick turnaround, and meet/exceed customer expectation
- Manage and direct the employees (totaling about 10 people /-); this includes, but not limited to, ensuring adherence to company policies, helping to manage employee work hours, assigning tasks, assisting in recruitment and retention, and ensuring that people have the required training and resources to perform their work safely and efficiently
- Provide oversight to assigned projects in the dry plant and shop, and ensure that people are properly trained to safely perform their work; assist with other site-wide projects as assigned
- Responsible for oversight of proper unloading and processing of incoming inventory and proper storage of said inventory
- Maintain outside appearances of physical plants and shop, as well as good general housekeeping inside and outside of the facilities and equipment (e.g., trucks and other rolling stock)
- Aid in recommending and creating process improvements to improve efficiencies
- Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 8 years’ experience in the agriculture industry to include system and equipment maintenance - required
- Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve problems - required
- Strong ability to organize and prioritize work flows and work order sequences - required
- Prior experience managing and leading people; strong teamwork skills - preferred
- Formal post-high school education in one or more of the skilled trades - preferred
Requirements:
- Sit, stand, lift frequently; occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
- Bend, twist, climb, reach, kneel, crawl frequently
- Typical visual and auditory abilities required (with or without medically prescribed correction)
