JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Hermiston School District is seeking applicants for the position of Special Education Assistant in the BRITE (behavior) room at Rocky Heights Elementary School. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Special Education teacher to assist students who are physically, mentally, and/or emotionally disabled. The position begins immediately.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must meet NCLB educational requirements by holding an Associate's Degree or 72 college credit hours. The Work Keys or ParaPro Assessment test can be taken as an alternative and is administered by the District upon hire.
- Demonstrated standards of moral character and behavior, similar to those expected of teachers (e.g., serving as an effective role model).
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.

About Our Elementary Schools:
There are six comprehensive elementary schools within the Hermiston School District, ranging in size from 415-560 students population. Each campus is appropriately staffed with licensed and support staff, including a full-time school counselor, and provides a premier education to the attending students, where student performance has been strong.

Salary & Benefits:
- Hourly Rate: $17.24 - $24.25, based on relevant experience.
- Working Notification Year: 192 days (school year), including 5 paid holidays.
