Starting Salary $46.800.00 with standard benefits

Positions Schedule: 8:00 - 4:30 pm 8 hrs a day
May include evening hours

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for supporting the Chief Communications Officer in the implementation of a comprehensive school and community relations program. The role includes strategic communication planning, content development for internal and external stakeholders, and community engagement efforts that support the overall mission and operations of the Rockwood School District.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Research and write accurate, timely and interesting content for school and district websites and communication channels.
- Support administrators and staff in the developing news and information that foster improved school-to-home and home-to-school involvement and communication.
- Develop content based on Rockwood School District design standards and in consultation with Rockwood Communications and appropriate school staff.
- Serve as first point of contact for school website queries by Rockwood School District staff and parents.
- Assist with website development training.
- Work with local Chambers of Commerce and municipalities to enhance the partnership at events, such as expos and parades.
- Edit and proofread content to ensure that all information posted is accurate and in conformity with Rockwood School District style standards and guidelines.
- Manage and assist with award programs and ceremonies that recognize the accomplishments of our students, staff and community members.
- Serves as a liaison between the district and Presidents’ Forum and assists with coordinating Presidents’ Forum meetings.
- Serve as a liaison and resource to all administrative assistants.
- All other duties as assigned by the Chief Communications Officer.
- Attend and lead various meetings, including evenings and weekends.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Use acceptable journalistic style for written communication.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with staff and the public in a professional manner.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the department of Communications to plan school-level communication and websites that will enhance and support the mission and goals of the Rockwood School District.
- Maintain and help manage the content, look and flow of school websites.
- Manage multiple projects while providing attention to large and small details.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Commensurate experience and training, or a degree from an accredited college or university in communications, journalism or related field.
- Proven ability in the creative use of computer technology as a means of internal/external communication.
- Knowledge and skill in managing communication channels, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft SharePoint.
- Ability to engage in creative problem-solving techniques using evolving technologies in a school environment for the advancement of the district’s mission.
- Highly organized, enthusiastic and energetic with ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.

- Standard office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to work in a variety of locations, travel throughout the District, work non-traditional hours which may include evenings and weekends and meet the physical demands of handling a variety of student needs. While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach.
