Job Summary
The Personal Injury Calendar Clerk is responsible for managing and maintaining all legal deadlines in personal injury cases. This role ensures attorneys and staff comply with court rules, statutes of limitation, discovery deadlines, and hearing dates. Accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the firm’s legal calendaring system for all personal injury matters
- Calculate and calendar critical deadlines, including:
- Statutes of limitation
- Court filing deadlines
- Discovery deadlines
- Hearing, trial, and mediation dates
- Review pleadings, correspondence, and court notices to identify deadlines
- Monitor court rules and local rules to ensure proper deadline calculation
- Send timely reminders and alerts to attorneys and legal staff
- Coordinate scheduling with courts, opposing counsel, and internal staff
- Update calendars when deadlines change or cases are continued
- Maintain accurate records and audit calendars for errors or omissions
- Assist attorneys and paralegals with deadline-related questions
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s degree or legal studies preferred)
- Prior experience in a law firm, especially personal injury or litigation (preferred)
- Strong understanding of legal calendaring and court procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Proficiency with calendaring software and case management systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
