About the Role
Rockstar Tutors is seeking experienced, high-caliber SAT/ACT tutors to join our elite DC team. We’re looking for passionate educators who deliver results, connect authentically with students, and can bring energy and expertise to every session. This role is primarily in person, working with students across the DC area, with opportunities for zoom sessions when appropriate. .
Responsibilities
- Conduct one-on-one in-person SAT/ACT tutoring sessions for high school students from elite private schools in the DC metro area.
- WIlling to travel to agreed-upon locations for sessions in the DC metro area.
- Integrate Rockstar Tutors’ signature test prep deliverables into your lessons, including:
- Post-lesson recap emails to client summarizing key takeaways and next steps.
- Creation of custom Quizlet decks or physical flashcards based on missed questions to enhance retention from the first lesson.
- Incorporation of technology to maximize engagement (TI 84 Plus CE, wacom tablet or ipad stylus for zoom sessions).
- Respond to client emails/texts or internal emails texts within 24 hours or less: we pride ourselves on being very communicative.
- Track student scores on timed practice sections on spreadsheets.
- Be willing to handle parent inquiries about the test prep process.
- Please note that upon being hired, training via zoom (approximately 1-2hours, unpaid) will be provided
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience tutoring SAT and/or ACT.
- Strong command of test content, strategies, and pacing, and structure of test and general prep trajectory length: must be an SAT and/or ACT expert.
- Willingness to travel throughout the DC area for in-person lessons - travel is not compensated beyond the hourly fee.
- Must either have or be willing to obtain at own cost:
- A TI-84 Plus CE calculator (for instruction and demonstration).
- A second monitor (if hoping to also conduct Zoom or hybrid sessions).
- A wacom tablet or ipad/apple pencil (if hoping to also conduct Zoom or hybrid sessions).
- Tech-savvy, communicative, and detail-oriented - especially in lesson documentation and follow-up.
- Must be able to provide three to five references of students you have tutored in the past two years on the ACT/SAT
- Background check will be performed
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $100.00 - $300.00 per hour
