Senior Transportation Manager

Description

The Senior Transportation Manager is a senior leadership position responsible for managing transportation projects, developing and maintaining client relationships, supporting business growth, and leading and developing staff in Colorado Springs and throughout Southern Colorado. This position provides technical and project leadership while identifying and pursuing opportunities to expand RockSol/Egis' transportation services and strengthen relationships with public- and private-sector clients.

Working collaboratively with leadership and technical teams across RockSol and Egis, the Senior Transportation Manager oversees the successful delivery of transportation projects, supports staffing and resource planning, mentors and develops employees, and contributes to strategic growth initiatives. This position fosters a culture of safety, quality, accountability, collaboration, and exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Client Relationships

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with transportation agencies, municipalities, public works departments, and other public- and private-sector clients. 
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities that support the continued growth of transportation services in Colorado Springs and throughout Southern Colorado. 
• Support proposal development, client interviews, contract negotiations, and other business development activities. 
• Maintain an understanding of client needs, upcoming projects, and market opportunities. 
• Collaborate with technical, operational, and business development leaders across RockSol and Egis to pursue opportunities, expand service offerings, and strengthen client relationships. 
• Represent the organization professionally with clients, partners, contractors, and other industry stakeholders. 

Project & Technical Leadership

• Provide leadership and oversight for transportation projects from planning and design through construction and project closeout, as applicable. 
• Review project proposals, plans, and contract requirements to determine project scope, schedules, staffing needs, budgets, and procedures for successful project delivery. 
• Establish project priorities, work plans, schedules, and staffing requirements in collaboration with project and organizational leadership. 
• Direct and coordinate project teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with applicable professional standards, client requirements, and quality expectations. 
• Proactively identify and address project risks, challenges, and issues that may affect successful project delivery. 
• Provide technical guidance and senior-level problem-solving for complex transportation projects. 
• Visit project sites as necessary to monitor progress, resolve issues, and coordinate with clients, contractors, and project personnel. 
• Provide regular project communication and reporting to clients, management, and other stakeholders. 
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout project development and delivery. 

Team Leadership & Staff Development

• Recruit, develop, mentor, and manage construction services professionals throughout the region.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, technical excellence, and client service.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and career development opportunities for project managers, construction managers, inspectors, and field personnel.
• Support workforce planning and resource management to meet project and growth objectives.

Operational Excellence

• Monitor project performance, financial metrics, and resource utilization.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and industry regulations.
• Champion safety practices and promote a culture of continuous improvement across all construction activities.
• Contribute to strategic planning initiatives that support regional and national Construction Services growth.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. 
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.). 
• 15 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, including roadway design and/or highway construction projects. 
• Demonstrated experience successfully managing complex transportation projects and multidisciplinary project teams. 
• Previous experience supervising, mentoring, and developing professional staff. 
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development efforts. 
• Strong understanding of project management principles, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and resource management. 
• Ability to provide oversight of engineering design and construction activities in accordance with applicable professional standards and guidelines. 
• Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills. 
• Strong leadership, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines. 
• Valid driver's license and insurable driving record, with the ability to travel to project sites, client locations, and other offices as needed. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing transportation engineering and/or construction projects for the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), municipalities, counties, or other public-sector transportation clients. 
• Established client and industry relationships within Colorado's transportation and infrastructure market. 
• Previous engineering consulting experience. 
• Experience planning, designing, and managing transportation projects through multiple phases of project delivery. 
• Demonstrated ability to manage and provide oversight to multiple active projects simultaneously. 
• Experience supporting business development activities, including proposals, client interviews, and pursuit strategy. 
• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, motivate, mentor, and develop employees. 
• Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines, offices, or business lines. 

Salary : $85 - $95
