Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to individual athlete needs across various track and field disciplines such as sprints, jumps, throws, and endurance running
- Lead engaging practice sessions that emphasize proper technique, safety, and teamwork
- Monitor athlete progress through regular assessments and provide constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement
- Foster a positive, inclusive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, discipline, and motivation
- Ensure all activities comply with safety standards, including first aid procedures and AED operation when necessary
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and staff regarding training schedules, performance updates, and behavioral expectations
- Organize and oversee team competitions, meets, and events to showcase athlete development
Experience
- Prior experience coaching track and field or related athletic disciplines is highly preferred
- Demonstrated sports coaching experience with children or youth groups is essential
- Background in sports-specific training instruction such as sprinting techniques, jumping mechanics, or throwing methods
- Experience working with diverse teams in a fast-paced environment with strong behavior management skills
- Knowledge of first aid procedures including CPR certification and AED operation is required
- Additional experience in soccer coaching, basketball, cheerleading, climbing, martial arts (karate or judo), or swimming is a plus for versatile coaching capabilities
- Proven ability to lead teams effectively while maintaining excellent communication skills and fostering a motivating atmosphere
