The Data Architect at Rockland Trust is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the bank’s enterprise data architecture. This role defines how data is stored, integrated, accessed, and governed across systems to support business strategy, regulatory compliance, and data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities
Enterprise Data Architecture
- Design and implement modern, enterprise-wide data architecture frameworks and standards
- Define how data is stored, integrated, accessed, and managed across systems
- Develop and maintain an enterprise data strategy aligned with business objectives
- Lead the design and development of:
- Data warehouses (DW) and operational data stores (ODS)
- Logical and physical data models
- Integration with data quality tools
- Design scalable data structures to support analytics and reporting
- Establish and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, and standards
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOX, CCPA)
- Maintain high standards of data quality, integrity, and security across the organization
- Monitor database performance and data workloads
- Optimize systems for scalability, reliability, and efficiency
- Recommend and implement performance tuning and improvement strategies
- Provide technical leadership to data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders
- Influence enterprise data initiatives and IT policies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business units and external vendors
- Evaluate, select, and implement data platforms and tools
- Work with technologies such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, and Azure data platforms
- Stay current with emerging data technologies and industry trends
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data architecture, database design, and data management (preferably in banking or financial services)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, ER/Studio)
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with NoSQL databases
- Experience with Snowflake and modern data platforms
- Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and modern data architecture patterns
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance frameworks
