Role Description
We are seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician to join our team on-site in Suffern, NY. The Ophthalmic Technician will assist with diagnostic testing, patient history documentation, performing fundus photography, and providing support to ophthalmologists during patient evaluations and treatments. Additional responsibilities include acting as a scribe, maintaining the accuracy of medical records, and ensuring patient care is delivered efficiently and professionally.

Responsibilities
- Conduct patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information
- Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures
- Prepare patients for eye exams by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort
- Operate EMR systems to document patient information accurately
- Manage medical records with confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA guidelines
- Support front desk operations including scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and managing patient flow
- Perform basic optical assessments and assist with vision testing procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment in compliance with safety standards
Skills
- Must be able to work with children, Experience working with pediatric patients is advantageous but not required
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology practices and medical terminology a plus, but not required
- Experience with EMR systems
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
- Clinic experience or medical office background preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
