NON-EXEMPT JOB DESCRIPTION
AS OF MARCH 2021 GRADE LEVEL: IV
TITLE: Swim Instructor ASSOCIATION: Rockland County YMCA
DEPARTMENT: Aquatics
SUPERVISOR: Aquatics Director
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Teach pre-school and progressive learn to swim classes and supervise class members at all times
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
American Red Cross lifeguard training certificate
First Aid and CPR Professional Rescuer Certification
Teaching experience preferred
Water Safety Instructor preferred
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Follow all CDC and DOH guidelines as they apply to the program
- Maintain safety of all participants at all times
- Maintain attendance and skill levels sheets
- Dress properly (swim suit, instructor shirt)
- Know emergency procedures
- Report to work 5-10 minutes before start of class
JOB SEGMENTS:
- Enforce pool rules
- Know whereabouts of all students at all times
- Teach aquatic skills
- Maintain teaching equipment
- Put away teaching equipment at end of classes
