VOLUNTEER PROGRAM COORDINATOR (PART-TIME)
ROCKLAND COUNTY OFFICE FOR THE AGING
The Rockland County Office for the Aging’s Volunteer Program provides meaningful and rewarding volunteer service opportunities for Rockland County older adults.
The Volunteer Program Coordinator is a contracted position with the Rockland County Office for the Aging. This role is responsible for the planning, organization, and implementation of the program as requested and overseen by the Rockland County Office for the Aging. The primary function of this program is to provide volunteer opportunities for Rockland County residents aged 55 or older. The Volunteer Program Coordinator will play a crucial role in enhancing and optimizing the program, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
Responsibilities include:
· Serve as initial point of contact for new volunteers.
· Handle completion of registration forms.
· Responsible for the coordination of outreach efforts and initiatives to expand awareness of the program.
· Responsible for recruiting, enrolling, and assigning volunteers with community worksite partners.
· Responsible for recruiting community worksite partners.
· Facilitate good communication with and between volunteers and community worksite partners.
· Plan, attend and participate in volunteer meetings, events, and activities.
· Represent the RCOFA at collaborative meetings, community events and public presentations.
· Prepare information for use in media and social media releases, pamphlets, bulletins, and other informational formats.
· Input data into database and maintain accurate program records.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in social work, gerontology, recreation management, human services, psychology, sociology, education or a related field and 2 years of work experience in a related field, or associate’s degree in fields listed above and 4 years of related work experience.
· Previous experience working with older adults and/or community program coordination.
· Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, bilingual a plus.
· Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and individuals.
Salary Starting at $24.00 per hour.
Work Schedule:
20-30 hours per week (Part time)
Weekday daytime hours with occasional evenings and weekends.
Work Locations: Pomona, NY (Rockland County), work sites within Rockland County and outreach sites within Rockland County.
Ability to Commute within Rockland County:
Must possess valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
