Exceptional Children’s Teacher Assistant
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The teacher assistant for our Day Treatment Program is a paraprofessional who practices under the supervision of the Day Treatment Director. The assistant is primarily responsible for working with students in a small group, one-on-one or in a classroom setting with behavioral/mental health challenges. These services include providing implementation of behavior plans, collecting progress monitoring data, and teaching and modeling social emotional skills.
All Teacher Assistants must be willing and able to obtain a bus license. Teacher assistants will not be required to take on a bus route but will be required to serve as a substitute bus driver when needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reinforce social emotional skills by reviewing and modeling these skills with students assigned
- Enforce school and class rules to help teach students proper behavior;
- Help in the collection of progress monitoring individual behavior plans and IEP goals related to behavior/social emotional
- Participates in in-service programs as assigned;
- Understands and adheres to established policies and procedures.
- Observes confidentiality and safeguards all student related information.
- Reports to the Day Treatment Director about student incidents/variances or complaints.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education requirement: High School Diploma and/or 48 college credit hours and/or Associate’s Degree, OR HIgh School Diploma and passing score on the Work Keys test (administered by Rockingham Community College)
If hired must complete any training required for Day Treatment Program.
