Performs intermediate protective service work overseeing and conducting fire safety inspections of foster homes adult care homes, churches, schools, and all businesses. Review site and construction plans, responding to emergencies (medical and fire), prepare and maintain files and records, prepare reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Conduct fire investigations for Origin and cause to include prosecution of intentional fires. Work is performed under the general direction of the Fire Marshal.

Must have a valid NC Driver’s License.
Possession of NC Firefighter certification upon hire.
Fire Life Safety Education I, II, and III.

- Comprehensive knowledge of fire suppression and prevention principles, practices, methods, and equipment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the hazards common to various types of construction and the storage of flammable and hazardous materials and explosives.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of fire investigations and fire educational and prevention programs.
- Thorough knowledge of preparing detailed reports and other forms of correspondence, using standard office equipment and associated software; etc.
