What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Cook (FT) position at Rockford Rescue Mission?
WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires knowledge of kitchen equipment. Requires working in and around hot and cold environments and handling
of sharp objects.
A.COOKING
1. Cook and prepare required meals for your shift.
2. Share ideas with the Food Service Supervisor concerning menu planning.
3. Abide by guidelines set forth by the Health Department.
B.CLEANING
- Keep the kitchen and surrounding food service areas clean and well organized.
- Supervise the cleaning of the kitchen and the food service equipment according to the chore guidelines set by the Food Service Supervisor.
- Take care to thoroughly clean stainless steel surfaces.
- Wipe down stainless steel with wet towel and then go over with dry towel.
- Use cleaner in water as directed.
C.GENERAL DUTIES
- Lead and direct volunteers and Recovery residents in kitchen duties.
- Carry out all food service rules and regulations.
- Answer the donation door as needed and gratefully accept what donors bring.
- Work within the supervision and direction of the Food Service Supervisor.
- Represent RRM in a Christlike manner to all visitors and donors.
- Perform any other duties specified for you by the Food Service Supervisor.
- Be proactive in efforts to continuously improve efficiency and organization of kitchen.
D.PHYSICAL FACTORS
- Lifting - ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Standing for extended periods of time
- Bending and reaching
- Ability to exercise caution and good judgment when working with sharp objects and around hot equipment and food
- Must adhere to Food Service dress code
E.SPIRITUAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take every opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others.
- Provide spiritual encouragement to donors, volunteers, staff, guests and residents.
- Invest in the spiritual development of staff, guests, residents, and donors.
- Pray for and with staff, volunteers, guests, residents, and donors.
- Ensure actions and policies reflect the Christian values and purposes of the Mission.
- Handle relational conflicts according to the Staff Covenant of Romans 12:18 and Matthew 18:15-19.
- Memorize monthly Scripture, Mission Statement, and Mission Core Values.
- Participate in corporate prayer and Scripture reading, staff chapel services, and all spiritual gatherings.
- Support and attend annual mandatory Evangelism In Service training to grow in knowledge of leading others to faith in Christ.
- Participate in annual spiritual growth training through organization selected curriculum.
F.QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum requirement High School or GED
- Formal training in culinary arts
- Must have a food sanitation certificate
- Must work required hours
- Must adhere to policies of Rockford Rescue Mission
- Must be Christlike in all duties
- Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and off-site facilities. Must take an active part ensuring the safety, health and well being of all of our staff, volunteers, and Mission guests.
