What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paid Media Specialist position at Rocket Media®?
We're looking for the person who takes wasted ad spend personally.
You know the feeling. A campaign drifts, budget quietly evaporates, impression share slips to a competitor — and somewhere out there, a bad keyword match is ruining someone's Tuesday. Not on your watch. You're the person who notices a quality score dip before the weekly report goes out, who gets a little thrill from watching a CPA drop after a bid adjustment lands, and who genuinely enjoys telling a client, "Leads are up 32% — here's exactly why."
Rocket Media is hiring a full-time Paid Media Specialist to join our team in Gilbert, AZ. You'll manage and optimize paid media campaigns for home service clients (think HVAC, plumbing, electrical — the folks who keep America comfortable), partner closely with our SEO, Account Management, and Project Management teams, and help small businesses actually grow. This isn't a "set it and forget it" seat. This is a strategy-forward, data-obsessed, client-facing role for someone who loves the craft and wants to do their best work alongside people who love it just as much.
You're Right For This Job If You
Your primary job is to own paid media strategy and execution for a book of awesome clients — most of them home service businesses. You'll meet with them regularly, present results, and make recommendations that move the needle (not just recite the numbers).
That Means
Some Of The Perks Of Joining The Family
You don't marry someone you just met (unless you're a Disney princess). You go on some dates. You get to know each other. You bring them home to meet the family.
That's how we view the hiring process.
When you join our team, you're joining our family. So when you apply, prepare for a courtship. Our process can feel a little lengthy at times — that's intentional. It's how much we care about protecting the team we've built and making sure you'd actually love it here. If you do get the job, we'll do our best to make sure it's one you'll never want to leave.

You're Right For This Job If You
- Believe in the power of good data and use it to tell the story of "where we've been and where we're going."
- Have a genuine passion for paid media and stay on top of PPC, paid social, and programmatic trends
- Know Google Ads inside and out — seriously, this is non-negotiable
- Understand that paid media is one slice of a complete digital marketing strategy and works best in concert with SEO, content, social, and web
- Are comfortable talking to clients in both marketing-speak and plain English, and can walk a non-marketer through a complex campaign strategy without losing them
Your primary job is to own paid media strategy and execution for a book of awesome clients — most of them home service businesses. You'll meet with them regularly, present results, and make recommendations that move the needle (not just recite the numbers).
That Means

- Owning campaign setup, launch, and ongoing optimization across Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, and paid social (Meta, LinkedIn) as needed
- Handling keyword research, ad copy creation, audience targeting, and landing page recommendations
- Implementing tracking properly — pixels, conversion tags, call tracking, GA4 events — so the data you're making decisions from is actually trustworthy
- Running A/B tests on creative, landing pages, and audience segments to keep improving results
- Preparing and delivering monthly client presentations that combine performance data with strategic recommendations
- Contributing to annual business reviews with a bigger-picture, "where are we going next" lens
- Collaborating with SEO, Account Management, and Project Management to keep client marketing cohesive
- Spotting technical issues that are hurting paid performance and making recommendations to fix them
- Helping evaluate and improve our internal SEM/paid media process — new tools, better workflows, smarter research
- Supporting the sales team on new-business pitches and diagnostics (keyword research, opportunity analysis, etc.)
- Helping manage Rocket Media's own internal paid media efforts
- Keeping up with platform changes and educating our clients and staff on what matters
- 3–5 years managing Google Ads and Microsoft Ads in a comparable role. Applicants with fewer than 3 years will not be considered.
- Strong working knowledge of Search campaigns, plus hands-on experience with Display, Video, Demand Gen, and Performance Max — comfortable building and optimizing each from scratch, unassisted
- Experience implementing and optimizing campaigns using conversion tracking, GA4, and call tracking (you can build PPC conversions in GA4 without Googling every step)
- Ability to manage a book of at least ten multi-campaign ad accounts with a monthly spend of $50K
- Experience meeting with and reporting to clients both in-person and virtually
- Experience with third-party research and management tools (Keyword Planner, SEMrush, SpyFu, budget management tools, etc.)
- Currently certified in Google Ads for Search and Display (minimum requirement; additional certifications preferred). Certifications cannot have expired more than 6 months ago.
- A bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field from an accredited university, or equivalent work experience verified through a resume and a demonstration of tangible paid media skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication — the kind of grammar that befits ad copy and professional client emails
- Solid working knowledge of Google Sheets, Docs, and Microsoft Office
- Prior digital agency experience
- General knowledge of SEO and Google Tag Manager
- Experience with paid social on Meta, LinkedIn, or X (organic or paid)
- Experience working with HVAC, plumbing, or other home service clients
- Expert-level Google Sheets or Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, charts, the works)
- Proof-of-work samples showing past accomplishments
- GA4 certification via Skillshop
Some Of The Perks Of Joining The Family
- 401(k) with employer matching
- Medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance
- In-office libations and "nourishment" (translation: snacks and drinks you'll actually like)
- Flexible work schedule
- Quarterly whole-office team building events
- Top-of-the-line technology to get the job done
- A great facility to work from, with flexibility to work from home when it makes sense
