What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at ROCKET INDUSTRIAL INC?
SCOPE OF ROLE:
The primary function of the Buyer is to ensure appropriate inventory levels at Rocket’s distribution centers while managing cost and maximizing the use of working capital. The Buyer is responsible for placing and managing purchase orders, analyzing product movement, and updating pricing quotes from suppliers. In addition, a priority for this role will be maintaining accurate system information in Rocket’s ERP software. The Buyer will work closely with vendors, sales reps, and internal customers to proactively communicate stocking issues, lead times, product changes, and quality issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Procure Product
- Responsible for all tasks relating to the order
- Monitoring orders and delivery status
- Tracking supplier delivery performance
- Running Buyer Priority/Alerts reports daily
- Recommending alternative products to sales reps/CSRs, as necessary
- Basing decisions on lead time and total cost
- Continuously analyze product movement/velocity
- Monitoring buyer priority report to minimize stock outs
- Reviewing service levels and adjusting LT’s/Safety Stock settings
- Reviewing excess inventory and making system changes accordingly
- Analyzing EOQ/TL information based on actual usage
- Maintain accurate system information
- Maintaining product descriptions
- Ensuring pricing is current and accurate
- Adjusting Product Lines/Status, as necessary
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA’s):
- Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree, or 5 years experience in purchasing
- Minimum 1-3 years purchasing experience, preferably within a distributorship environment
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Strong computer skills; experience with a computer-based purchasing system preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication and customer service skills
Salary : $60,000 - $75,000
