Special Education Paraprofessional (EBD)

JOB GOAL: Assist the teacher in the achievement of learning objectives by working with individual students and/or small groups to present or reinforce learning concepts.

Job Summary

The EBD Paraprofessional supports students with emotional and behavioral challenges in an elementary school setting. Working under the direction of a certified teacher and special education staff, the paraprofessional helps implement behavior intervention plans, supports academic instruction, and fosters a safe, structured learning environment.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and small-group support to students with emotional and behavioral needs.
• Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and using de-escalation strategies.
• Support classroom instruction by reinforcing lessons and adapting materials as needed.
• Monitor student behavior and document incidents, progress, and interventions.
• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other non-instructional times.
• Promote the development of social skills, emotional regulation, and positive peer interactions.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other staff to support student success.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and procedures.
• Participate in professional development and team meetings as required.
• Other duties as assigned to best support student academic and behavior outcomes
