Job Summary
The Quarry Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and dispatching trucks for the efficient movement of aggregate materials while maintaining accurate records of loads, tickets, customers, and driver activity. This position serves as the central communication hub between loaders, drivers, scale house, customers, and management to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective operations.
Key Responsibilities Dispatch & Coordination
- Dispatch company and contract trucks to and from the quarry for customer and internal loads
- Coordinate daily haul schedules based on customer demand, production capacity, and truck availability
- Communicate clearly with drivers regarding load instructions, destinations, changes, and delays
- Work closely with loader operators and scale personnel to keep material flowing efficiently
Ticketing & Documentation
- Create, verify, and process load tickets accurately
- Ensure correct product, tonnage, customer, pricing, and payment method on each ticket
- Track partial loads, split tickets, and special customer instructions
- Maintain daily haul logs and dispatch records
Customer Service
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers calling to place or schedule orders
- Provide accurate information on product availability, pricing, and delivery timelines
- Address customer concerns and escalate issues to management when needed
Operations Support
- Monitor truck turnaround times and identify bottlenecks
- Assist with end-of-day reconciliation of tickets, loads, and dispatch logs
- Support safety initiatives by enforcing quarry traffic rules and communication protocols
- Coordinate special projects, after-hours loads, or priority customers as directed
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Strong multitasking and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable with computers, dispatch software, and basic Excel or data entry
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aggregate, quarry, or heavy materials operations
- Familiarity with scale systems, ticketing, or dispatch software
- Basic understanding of trucking regulations and load limits
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Office and scale house environment with frequent radio and phone communication
- May require occasional outdoor exposure to quarry conditions (dust, noise, weather)
- Ability to sit, stand, and use computer systems throughout the workday
Pay: $18.00 - $19.50 per hour
