Overview
The Rockbridge/Lexington Commonwealth Attorney’s Office is looking for a part-time Victim/Witness Advocate to work up to 29 hours a week. General responsibilities include: advocate on behalf of victims of crime, serve as a liaison between prosecutors, victims and witnesses, and attend court hearings and meetings with victims. College-level Social Science, Criminal Justice, or related experience preferred. $20 /hr. Send resume and cover letter to Christina Moore at cmoore@rockbridgecountyva.gov

Responsibilities

  • Offer emotional support and crisis intervention to victims and witnesses, especially children and families affected by trauma or violence
  • Assist clients in understanding their rights and navigating legal processes related to family law, criminal justice, or child protective services
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, legal professionals, social services, and community organizations to ensure comprehensive support for clients
  • Document client interactions accurately while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to legal protocols
  • Advocate for clients’ needs within court proceedings or social service agencies to promote their best interests
