Locksmith

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are currently looking for an EXPERIENCED commercial and residential Locksmith at Rockaway Hardware to serve our location in Far Rockaway. No License or Certification needed. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has /- two (2) years’ experience in the Locksmith Industry. The job requires familiarity with power hand tools including grinders, jigsaws, hammer drills and locksmith related equipment is a plus. An understanding of the function of mechanical & electrified door hardware and how to adjust hardware for optimum performance. Professional attitude providing outstanding customer service.

Must be reliable – daily attendance for scheduled work is mandatory.

Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Must be fluent in English (speak, write, read, and comprehend), Spanish speaking a plus.

JOB RESPONSIBITIES:

Installs or Repairs Commercial Hardware with hand tools and specialty tools including, but not limited to:

• Door Closers
• Exit Devices, “Push bars” both concealed and surface mount
• Door Stops, Handles, Kick Plates, Sweeps, Mull Strips/Bars, Pick Guards
• Hinges – butt, concealed, continuous, and other types
• Mortice Locks
• Lever sets
• Deadbolts
• Lock cylinders
• Electronic Locks and Strikes including mag type
• Install locks and closers in drawers
• Disassemble electrical and mechanical locking devices

Ability to achieve the following:

• Rekey cylinders
• Cut duplicate Keys
• Follow / Create Key Hierarchy
• Open Locks without Key - Lockpick
• Drill Locks
• Accurate record keeping

Familiar with the following:

• Fire Code as relating to Egress and Door Operation and Device type required
• Various Door Hardware Manufacturers – e.g. Von Duprin, Stanley, Sargent
• Various Keyway Types and Manufacturers - e.g. Schlage, Best, Medeco'

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• On call
• Weekends as needed

Experience:

• Locksmithing: 2 years (Required)
