Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and LVT's (Licenced Veterinary Technician) with clinical procedures such as animal restraint, catheterization, and laboratory sample collection
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques and ensure their comfort during examinations or treatments
- Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures
- Maintain accurate medical records and laboratory documentation for each patient
- Assist in reception duties including answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking patients in, taking payment
- Assisting through the client check out process
- Operate X-ray equipment safely to obtain diagnostic images
- Maintain cleanliness of the treatment area following infection control protocols
- Educate pet owners on animal care, health maintenance, and post-treatment instructions
Requirements
- Prior experience with animal handling, dog training, pet grooming, or kennel work is highly preferred
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and critical care practices is essential
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with veterinary staff and educating pet owners
