Provide leadership and oversight of all Emergency Department operations, including triage, treatment, observation, and ancillary support services.

Develop, implement, and monitor department policies, procedures, and performance improvement initiatives.

Foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and patient-centered care.

Manage departmental staffing, scheduling, and professional development programs.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards (Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, etc.).

Collaborate with hospital leadership, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow and departmental efficiency.

Oversee budget management, resource allocation, and supply utilization to ensure fiscal responsibility.

Monitor key performance indicators, identify trends, and implement process improvements.

Participate in hospital committees and contribute to organizational strategic planning.

Act as a liaison between the Emergency Department, hospital administration, and the community.

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred)

Current RN license in good standing in the State of Kansas.

Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in an emergency department, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (Manager or Director level - Preferred).

Strong knowledge of emergency care practices, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements.

Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Experience in budgeting, staffing, and operational management.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) or NEA-BC certification (Preferred).

Experience in a rural or community hospital setting.

Proven ability in service line growth, physician relations, and community engagement (Preferred).
The Director of Emergency Services provides leadership, strategic direction, and operational management of the Emergency Department (ED). This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining regulatory compliance, staff satisfaction, and operational efficiency. The ER Director collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, hospital administration, and other departments to optimize patient flow, enhance service delivery, and support the hospital’s mission in providing emergency care to the community.
