We are currently in search of a Heavy Equipment & Fleet Technician to keep up our level of commitment to safety and customer service. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel equipment, including trucks and industrial machinery. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and longevity of our fleet and machinery and running diagnostics on equipment. Individual will work closely under the supervision of the Lead Mechanic ensuring uptime of production equipment and truck fleet is achieved. This is an exciting opportunity for a mechanic with a passion for working on heavy equipment that takes pride in maintaining equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment, production equipment, and medium/heavy-duty trucks across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Perform minor and major repairs, component replacements, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment uptime.
- Complete preventative maintenance inspections and services, identifying wear items and addressing issues before failure.
- Run diagnostic tests, interpret results, and collaborate with the maintenance team to plan and complete repairs efficiently.
- Document repairs, inspections, and parts usage accurately using a computerized maintenance management system.
- Maintain service vehicles, tools, and shop areas in a clean, organized, and ready-to-work condition.
- Support parts and supplies inventory by monitoring stock levels and communicating needs.
- Follow all safety procedures and work practices to meet operational, DOT, and OSHA requirements.
- Fabricate parts or modify existing components using power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and hand tools to meet specific repair needs.
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial equipment safely and effectively during repair or maintenance procedures.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of hands on experience in heavy equipment maintenance.
- Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Welding experience a plus.
- ASE Diesel Certification is an asset
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge across diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and vehicle maintenance.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools for automotive diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering for custom repairs or modifications.
- Experience operating excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers, farm machinery or industrial equipment safely.
- Ability to read schematics accurately and interpret technical manuals for complex repairs.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
- Capable of heavy lifting and performing physically demanding tasks regularly while maintaining safety standards.
Education:
- High school or GED equivalent (Preferred)
Preferred:
- ASE Diesel certification. (preferred but not required)
- Experience working on mixed OEM equipment and trucks ., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Freightliner, Volvo, Vermeer, Bobcat, and similar.
Pay $26.00 -$32.00/hr starting pay based on experience and qualifications.
