Job Summary
This position is a part-time post for prepping items in our kitchen. Hours are flexible as the prep person is needed only a few hours and days a week. Schedule is ideal for someone working full-time already or going to school full-time.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Kitchen Prep to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, ensure food safety standards are maintained, and support the kitchen staff in delivering high-quality meals. This role is essential for maintaining efficient kitchen operations and providing excellent service to our clients. Prior experience in food handling or the food industry is preferred, especially within dietary or catering environments. The Kitchen Prep will play a vital role in meal preparation, menu execution, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen workspace.
Responsibilities
- Assist with meal preparation according to menu plans and dietary guidelines
- Prepare ingredients by chopping, slicing, and measuring to ensure timely cooking processes
- Support cooking activities by following recipes and safety procedures
- Handle food safely, adhering to proper food handling and sanitation standards
- Assist with food plating and presentation for service
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment throughout shifts
- Support catering events and special meal requests as needed
- Ensure all food is stored properly to prevent spoilage or contamination
- Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment
Experience
- Prior experience in dietary department or as a dietary aide is desirable but not required
- Experience in food preparation, cooking, or food service within restaurants or the food industry preferred
- Knowledge of menu planning and meal assembly techniques
- Skills in knife handling, meal preparation, and food safety practices required
- Experience with catering or serving is a plus
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and food handling procedures is beneficial
