Rock Island Auction Company (RIAC), the #1 firearms auction house in the world, is searching for a part-time Incoming Inventory Firearm Care Professional in Rock Island, IL!
This is a non-exempt, part-time position that is 100% on-site, pays $18.00 per hour, and offers a flexible schedule within the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with overtime and weekend hours as needed.
The Incoming Inventory Firearm Care Professional plays a critical role ensuring safety remains top priority by checking and verifying weapons are not loaded upon entering Rock Island Auction Company’s (RIAC) facility. This position is responsible for unpacking, moving, handling, and oiling all inventory on the premises.
Essential Job Functions
- Cleans incoming and existing inventory, including antique firearms, edged and bladed weaponry, using the highest level of safety, detail and respectfulness possible.
- Unpacking incoming inventory with high attention to detail, verifying each firearm is unloaded and ensuring all information provided by customers is verified.
- Completes forms and logs with accuracy and documents findings consistent with direct guidelines established by internal processes and procedures as well as customer instructions.
- Organizes and moves inventory throughout department as well as out of department, as needed.
- Works expected overtime and required auction weekends (approximately 6 per year).
- Completes other tasks, duties, and projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability and willingness to learn and follow all company rules for firearm safety.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality and working with sensitive information and data.
- Ability to use and operate office equipment and machinery with basic proficiency (e.g., computer, copier, scanner, and various printers).
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to obtain and maintain active FOID card (Illinois residents only).
Education and Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Prior relevant work experience with inventory, material handling, or other related field highly preferred.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) with basic proficiency required.
Physical Requirements
Routinely moving and transporting up to 50 pounds. Traversing and moving for prolonged periods up to 100% of the time with frequent ascending, descending, or positioning self to maintain moving and transporting consignor items. Must be able to constantly communicate and exchange accurate information. Must be able to detect, identify, inspect, observe, perceive and assess incoming inventory operations. Constantly operates and uses computer and other relevant equipment and office machinery. Constantly works with and around firearms, bladed weaponry, militaria, historic relics, and valuable collectibles.
