What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bandsaw Operator position at Rock House Farms (RHF)?
Position Summary:
Position is responsible for reading route cards and/or sketches to cut wood or veneer parts to shape or pattern using a bandsaw.
Position Details:
- Cuts to line and holds cut to close tolerance 1/32
- Makes basic visual inspection of parts discarding those with obvious defects
- Stacks parts and cuts more than one at a time when possible
- Creates own forms, patterns and jigs as needed from scratch wood to complete task
- Change saw blades and does preventive maintenance as required
- Sets up bandsaw with forms, guides and blades as needed to run specific parts
- Observes plant safety rules
- Keeps work area clean and is quality conscious in performing duties
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous bandsaw experience required
- Must be able to read a ruler
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk, stand, climb, stoop, twist, push, pull and bend over the course of 8 hours
- Must be able to lift cores of 30 pounds or more
- Must be able to load stock on pallets
