Responsible for administering respiratory therapies, medications, and diagnostic procedures to patients with pulmonary conditions, following physician orders. Skilled in emergency procedures and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient outcomes. Conducts diagnostic tests such as blood, sputum, and breath analysis, and measures lung capacity to evaluate respiratory function. Manages treatments for patients with breathing abnormalities, overseeing respiratory therapy technicians. Practices with a high level of autonomy, participating in advanced procedures including intubations, arterial line placements, transesophageal pressure monitoring, bedside bronchoscopy, and medication administration. Requires graduation from an approved respiratory therapy program, registration as a Respiratory Therapist, and licensure in South Carolina. Certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP are essential. Prior acute or critical care experience is preferred, but motivated new graduates are encouraged to apply.
