What are the responsibilities and job description for the ADRC Specialized Transit Driver - 16 hours per week position at Rock County?
Operates County bus or vehicle to transport elderly and disabled riders throughout the County. This position also supports and promotes the Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles of the Human Services Department and performs in a manner consistent with the "HSD Professional Standards" and "Commitment to My Co-Workers."
75%- Provide door-to-door service for elderly and disabled passengers.
20%- Vehicle Maintenance
5%- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Operate routing software.
- Transport individuals safely to and from appointments.
- Accompany passengers safely to and from the bus and buildings.
- Provide reasonable assistance to the passenger, e.g. offering an arm, pushing a wheelchair if needed.
- Collect fares.
- Promote a positive image of the ADRC by maintaining a courteous, professional, and respectful presence when interacting with the public.
20%- Vehicle Maintenance
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles using checklist provided.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum and clean interior of vehicle and keep it clean and sanitary.
- Keep vehicle filled with fuel.Communicate all vehicle issues or needs identified to supervisor.
5%- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of vehicle maintenance requirements. Ability to get along well with people and present a professional image of the ADRC. Possess the personal attitudes and aptitude for successfully relating to and providing service for the elderly and persons with disabilities. Ability to work independently with a minimum supervision. Skill in driving county vehicles during difficult weather and traffic conditions. Ability to follow directions. Ability to work varied hours when necessary. Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. Ability to operate a tablet and google maps. Ability to operate a two way radio. Ability to be subject to random alcohol / drug testing under DOT / FTA guidelines. Possess knowledge of the street layout and major destination points in Rock County.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Pass a criminal and caregiver background check.
- Possession of Valid Wisconsin driver's license and excellent driving record as reported by State MotorVehicles
- Pass a preemployment drug& alcohol screen that meets all US DOT requirements (FTA)
- No convictions for drunk driving (DWI OWI) , reckless driving, or a fatal accident.
- No license suspensions or revocations for any reason within the past five (5) years.
- No preventable accidents within the past two (2) years
- Lifting and carrying ten pounds often, 20 pounds occasionally and pushing individuals in wheelchairs (potentially large/heavy), as well as up and down ramps.
- Frequent use of a tablet and google maps.
- Frequent use of a motorized bus lift.
- Frequent use of a two way radio.
- Occasional computer use.
- Involves occasional to continuous exposure to noise, dirt, moisture, and outdoor conditions in all types of weather.
- Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and squatting.
- Must pass random drug & alcohol screening requirements.
